| The many years of Republic’s existence has resulted in a vast accumulation of tools for cutting, grinding and polishing the tremendous variety and combination of shapes, diameters and curvatures used in optical applications. All these tools have been designed and constructed to produce their intended components with high accuracy and productive efficiency and are now carefully catalogued and maintained in a separate tool room for prompt selection and use on the production line. In addition, the requirements of many accounts during the same period has created an extensive stock of test plates made to rigid standards for accurately measuring radii of curvature from 2 to 10,000mm. As a result, most orders can be processed from existence tools or test plates with minimal tooling costs and at the same time serves to reduce delivery schedules. When optical configurations are required that are not covered by existent tools or plates, a one time tool charge is made for the first order only. The completely equipped model shop takes full advantage of the tools and test plates to promptly supply any sample optical component from one to several for prototype evaluation prior to production. |
